Yeimi Lopez, a Rotary scholarship recipient, was a special guest at the May 23 meeting of the Dodge City Rotary Club. Lopez is a recent Fort Hays State University graduate in marketing.

Dodge City A’s baseball schedule

The Dodge City A’s have released their schedule for their first summer as part of the Rocky Mountain Baseball League. They will play their games at Cavalier Field admission will be free thanks to sponsors. There will again be a full service concession stand and souvenir stand at home games this season. The schedule is subject to change and there could be additions to the schedule.

Woodruff Dodge City A’s new baseball coach

The Dodge City A’s recently announced that Chris Woodruff will replace Robert Gonzalez as the new baseball head coach. Woodruff is currently the assistant athletic director at Dodge City Community College.

Ridge Estes earns All Conference Honors

Ridge Estes, a former standout athlete from Bucklin, took home a second-place finish at the American Athletic Conference Track and Field championship in the Discus with a throw of 53.65m/176’0”. His performance earned him all-conference honors on the year.

DCHS Boys Golf: Boys finished 12th

The Dodge City High School boys golf team finished 12th at the State Golf tournament held at Mariah Hills Golf Course. The team was led by AJ Peters who shot an 81, Cooper Scheck 82, and Aidan Robinson 83. Other scores were Seth Weber 100, Grayden Gamblin 103, and Kevin Chela-Carbajal 112.

WAC Softball: All-Conference honors

WAC released its softball All-Conference teams and Garden City sophomore Brie Manwarren won the 2022 Western Athletic Conference softball Player of the Year award. The Lady Demons’ very own Marsela Landa and Taryn Coon were selected First Team All-League Selections.

WAC released its baseball All-Conference teams and Hays Dylan Dreiling was selected as Western Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Year. The Red Demons’ very own Chayston Keck and Aidan Sowers were selected First Team All-League Selections.

Jack L. Frydendall

Jack L. Frydendall, 78, Liberal, passed away on May 23, 2022.

Agustin Jaime Carrillo

Agustin “Jaime” Carrillo (65) passed away on April 24th in Chihuahua, Mexico. He is survived by Juana Carrillo and his 3 children; son Jaime and wife Emily, daughter Amira and husband Omar, and daughter Juanita. He loved his 7 grandchildren; Avian, Omar, Zaylen Elan, Gabriel, Izandro, and Karim fiercely. Funeral services were held in his hometown of Valle de Zaragoza, Chihuahua on April 28th.
